4 CLIMATE- average weather of a place over many years

5 CULTURAL TRAITS way of life

6 DEFORESTATION cutting down trees

7 CULTURAL DIFFUSION the spread of ideas from another culture
( borrowing)

8 DIVERSITY a variety of people/cultures

9 ECONOMY- a system of producing goods--making $$

10 GEOGRAPHY the study of the earth

11 LATITUDE lines that run from the east to west

12 LANDLOCKED- surrounded by land

13 LONGITUDE- lines that run from the north pole to the south pole

14 MANUFACTURING- process of turning a raw material into a finished product (good)

15 MIGRATION- the movement of people from one place to another

16 NATURAL RESOURCE- anything from the earth that is used by people

17 PHYSICAL FEATURES- any landforms that are part of the Earth

18 PHYSICAL MAP- map that shows the Earth's landforms

19 POLITICAL MAP shows borders of countries or states ( lots of color)

20 POPULATION DENSITY average number of people per square mile

21 RURAL- farming, countryside

22 SCARCITY- short in supply

23 STANDARD OF LIVING- overall quality of life (could be bad or good)

24 SUBSISTENCE CROPS- food grown to feed family NOT to sell

25 TRANSPORTATION CORRIDORS-
a way to travel easily

26 TROPICS- area between tropic of cancer and capricorn

27 URBAN- developed, having to do with the city.

28 VEGETATION- plants that grow naturally
