1) NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN ANOTHER COUNTRY A NSA has no homologated slopes in its country and organises its NC in another country. The organising country has entered 50 athletes. The total number of registered competitors does not exceed 100 including athletes from the country where the competition is organised. Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2012
44
1) NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN ANOTHER COUNTRY a) Check the quota of the organising NSA. b) With how many can the host nation start? c) And the other countries? d) Explain the different alternatives available to the Technical Delegate Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2012

2)PROTEST OUT OF TIME The first run of the slalom just ended without much trouble and almost without interruption. You decide to join the course setter to finish setting the second run. You instruct the referee to check the disqualifications. In the chairlift, listening on your radio, the information is that there have been no disqualifications and start lists for the second run will be soon available. Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2012
49
2)PROTEST OUT OF TIME After finishing course setting you check the last details before opening the inspection. At this moment a trainer comes to you with a protest in his hand arguing that a competitor was not DSQ after committing a fault at the start pushing off from the start with his hands. You ask the start referee if he has any comments. Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2012
50
2)PROTEST OUT OF TIME His says that he noticed something strange but forgot to report it to you. In principle you accept the protest and communicate this to the Referee and the Chief of Race. In 5 min you are dealing with the protest. After discussions the vote comes out without a DSQ due to protest out of time. Both Jury members were against your proposal. Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2012
51
2)PROTEST OUT OF TIME a)What is the role of the Starter(or the start referee) in this case? b) What elements are important to consider under protest out of time? c) Can the TD, despite being opposed by the Jury, do anything? d) Is it possible to protest after the Jury has made its decision? 3)LAST MINUTE CHANGE After a difficult Team Captains meeting, you assist the Race Secretary to finish the start list for tomorrows SL. The next day at breakfast a coach of one of the teams asked you if he can make a last minute change (substituting one team member for another), since one of his competitors is feeling ill. Before giving the answer you consult with the Jury. Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2012
61
3)LAST MINUTE CHANGE When the Jury meets the referee notes that one of the teams who was not present at the team captain meeting (and was excluded from the draw) arrived late at night in the hotel. a) What will the decision with the ill competitor be? b) And what if the team which arrived last night also demands to start? 5)THE MISSING POLE In a Slalom race during the 2 nd run a competitor knocks a pole down. The next competitor is already on the race slope when the referee says start stop. The missing pole is located 4 gates before the finish line and the person in charge of the sector cannot replace it before the next competitor arrives. Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2012
66
5)THE MISSING POLE When he arrives at this sector the competitor makes the turn approximately where the original pole was located without stopping. At the end of the competition a protest by another team against the classification of this competitor is made. Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2012
67
5)THE MISSING POLE a) Did the competitor commit a fault not stopping after he noticed the pole was missing? b) Can he be DSQ? c) See video Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2012
