2 Agile Methodology

3 What is the Agile methodology?
Web research Agile software development refers to a group of software development methodologies based on iterative development, where requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between self-organizing cross-functional teams.

4 Scrum benefits to the organization:
Web research What is Scrum? Scrum is a subset of Agile. It is a lightweight process framework (set of practices) for agile development, and the most widely-used one. For example, the Scrum process framework requires the use of development cycles called Sprints, the XP framework requires pair programming, and so forth. Scrum benefits to the organization: Increase the quality of the deliverables Cope better with change (and expect the changes) Provide better estimates while spending less time creating them Be more in control of the project schedule and state

5 What are Agile Events? Web research
Events are the meetings prescribed to carry out the Scrum framework, and are what give Scrum its regularity and structure. Encompass all of the meetings required to maintain the cyclical process that allows Scrum teams to inspect and adapt.   Each event has its own specific purpose, cadence, and time-box (Event Examples: Daily Stand Up Meeting, Sprint planning, Sprint review, etc.)

6 What is a Sprint? Web research
A sprint is a set period of time during which specific work has to be completed and made ready for review. The time-box for a Sprint is 30-days or less

7 What is a Sprint Planning Session (SPS)?
A meeting in which attendees plan out the necessary work for an upcoming sprint. Consists of two parts: “What” the team will be working on “How” they will accomplish the work Web research What is a Stand Up meeting? A meeting in which attendees typically participate while standing. The discomfort of standing for long periods is intended to keep the meetings short. The goal of this event is for the team to get in sync on a daily basis, allowing for better collaboration and transparency Should last 15 minutes or less.

9 What’s a User Story? What’s an epic? What’s a “spike” ? Web research
User stories are short, simple descriptions of a feature told from the perspective of the person who desires the new capability, usually a user or customer of the system. What’s an epic? A bunch of stories grouped together due to likeliness. What’s a “spike” ? Story that cannot be estimated until a development team runs a time-boxed investigation. The output of a spike is an estimate for the original story.

10 JIRA software Jira is a proprietary issue tracking product developed by Atlassian that allows bug tracking and agile project management. The product name is a truncation of Gojira, the Japanese word for Godzilla, which is a reference to a competitor, Bugzilla.
