Be All You Can Be Lesson Six
MAN UP BIBLE SERIES Be All You Can Be Lesson Six

The Real World Being a Man of Prayer is a rare thing these days. I want us to think of Prayer like a soldier preparing for battle. That will get us into a completely different frame of mind. He lives out his prayer life as outlined in Ephesians 6:18: ”And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” We are in a spiritual battle and prayer is the key to any victory. It all starts on our knees. So if it is so important way do we fail to follow through? Time is the thief that steals away our commitment to prayer. We want to but somehow we never quite get around to it! The tyranny of the urgent seems to kill that desire within to commune with the Creator. So lets get back to it!

The Real Word Ephesians 6 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Romans 8 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Jude 1:20 20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,

Real Steps What makes a strong prayer life?
Spirited led Prayer – (Romans 8:26, 27 and Jude 20) Continual Prayer – (I Thess. 5:17) – Possible? Varied Prayer – (I Thess. 4:6) Resist and he will flee. Persistent Prayer – (Luke 18: 1- 5 and Matt. 7:7) Intercessory Prayer – (Eph. 6:18) “For all the Saints” Prayer Lists – Family, Friends, Co workers , Problems, etc. Quiet Time – Find it somewhere. Place – Specific and set aside. (Mark 1:35) Time – Take time to prayer. Better five minutes a day. Posture – Laying down, on your knees. Your choice. Length – Better short and passionate then long and boring.

Time to Close So prayer is not a hobby…Something we do if we feel like it. For Real Men of God Prayer is work! It should be seen as something that needs to happen just like the job we go to everyday. It will seem hard at first but as we stop and pray we will see results and the side effects of a strong prayer life are amazing in themselves! So do not wait until you feel like praying, Start by praying! I would also recommend that you start with five minutes a day. Better to go five minutes for the rest of your life than and be successful than to go for one hour once in your life and live in the shadow of defeat. Small steps lead to great strides over a lifetime. So commit yourself to something achievable and in the end you will develop a habit of prayer that will change you life and world! MAN UP!
