8 DO NOT Do not copy from a website (or book) instead of doing your own work. Do not copy work from a friend. Do not worry if your English is not perfect. Do not worry if your work is not perfect.

9 DO Do your own work and thinking. (Even if it is not perfect.)
Do include the source of the ideas or words you use. (This is often called citing your source. Other terms: attribution, credit.) Do understand: instructors care as much about the process of your work (learning) as they do about the product (results). Your instructor wants to see your work.

If you are in a class with other native speakers, you will probably be asked to cite your source according to certain rules, or formats. Two examples are MLA. APA. Your teachers will talk to you more about plagiarism. Source

11 How to avoid plagiarizing
Start your work early so you are not in a rush. Write down all the sources your find so that you can cite them. Listen to your instructors. They will tell you more about how to use and cite sources in your work. Get help from tutors in the Loft or Librarians in the Library.
