Martin MATH 6A – PER 2 & 6 SCIENCE/HEALTH – PER 3 &4 PIRATE COLLEGE ACADEMY Period 1 STANDARD 6NS1.4 Students will calculate given percentages of quantities and solve problems. Health Expectations 1 to 8. Students will be able to describe the different types of families in society and explore the kinds of problems that can occur within the family setting. 2NS4.1 Students will recognize, name, and compare unit fractions from 1/12 to ½. LEARNING OBJECTIVE Solve problems and calculate given percentages of quantities. Students will be able to describe how family members care for each other, identify the types of families, explain their roles, and explain family problems and where to turn for help. I want you to tell me what a fraction is and how to recognize, name, and compare unit fractions with a picture diagram or drawing. AGENDA Introduce Chapter 7-6, 7, and 8. Brain Pop on Percents Lecture on Tuesday Introduce Chapter 3: Social Health Check foldable, page 53. Show Brain Pop on Health Video for Chapter 3. Get out a sheet of paper and make Cornell Notes titled “Recognize, Name, and Compare Unit Fractions”. You will see a Brain Pop on Comparing Fractions DO NOW ACTIVITY Do the warm up problems on the blackboard. Get your Cornell notes out or your foldable and take notes on Monday. Get out your Cornell notes and foldable and be prepared to take notes for the lecture. Make sure you have your foldable ready to take notes. Take out a sheet of paper and write your heading on the paper and title it “Parts of a Whole.” HOMEWORK Start Reading Chapter 7-6, 7, and 8 Do problems 1 to 19, page 372 Do problems 1 to 17, page 377 Do problems 1 to 21, page 381. Start reading Chapter 3: Social Health from page 52 to 75. Do questions in Lesson 1 to 4 and the foldable. Do Work book from page 14 to 20. Do Lesson 1-2 “Recognize, Name, and Compare Unit Fractions, page 11 to 17. TEST Test will be Chapter 7 test on Percents taken on-line. Use your laptops for this test. Your test will be on Chapter 3: Social Health and will be done on the internet. Your Test will be Progress Check 1 on page 18. EXTRA CREDIT Make the foldable on page Label on side with lesson 7-6, 7, 8 and use it to place your notes on it. Keep this foldable in your folder and add more lessons when get to them later on in the school year Perform a play of three people using the Persona Dolls on a topic concerning Social Health that you seen from a video or researched out of your Health text book, or real life situation. Make a fraction diagram on page 17. Color and label it and show it to the class for extra credit.
