SmarterEasierBetter.com Thank you for taking the time to review these slides with which will introduce you to some of the new enhancements that we’re working on for MD Consult for Spring You can download these slides and more from SmarterEasierBetter.com. The new MD Consult will allow easier access to the best medical reference information, through improved searching and simpler navigation, letting physicians get to the answers they need to provide better patient care. Smarter search, easier to use, and better ways to get answers to your medical questions – all in the new MD Consult.

3 Coming Spring 2007 Easier to use, with a redesigned interface that reduces clutter and makes it easier to find and read the information you need One of MD Consult’s strengths is that it provides access to a vast amount of high-quality clinical information. Our new user interface will make it even easier to find, access, and use that information to answer your clinical questions.

4 Coming Spring 2007 Better access to the best clinical medical reference information available MD Consult has long been known as a premier resource for medical content, and these enhancements will make MD Consult even more valuable. You know that you can turn to MD Consult for the leading medical books, journals, The Clinics of North America, drug information, patient education materials, and other clinical medical information.

5 Our new interface will make it easier, simpler, and less complex to get the answers you need. We have received input through extensive interviews, usability testing, surveys, focus groups, and other research with physicians, students, librarians, and other medical professionals. You’ll notice the cleaner look to the pages, better dedicated to viewing and reading content. The simpler visual design makes it quicker and easier to find and access the information you need. We’ve also worked to focus on the most-used and most-valued content for clinical reference. Here you can see the books page in the new MD Consult design. We’ve streamlined the navigation, simplified the interaction, and improved the focus on the most important information on the page – in this case, the books to which you have access.

Here’s an example of the Drug Information page. You’ll notice the similarity right away. The different areas of the site will be more consistent, making it easier to start using MD Consult without any training or directions. You’ll find it simpler to find what you’re looking for and probably discover some great medical information that you didn’t even realize you had access to on MD Consult!

7 We’ve spent a lot of time making our search smarter
We’ve spent a lot of time making our search smarter. Search results will be tailored based on type of query entered. For the most common queries, like anemia, in this example, we have special Recommended Results, with content organized by how physicians utilize it in practice – overview, etiology, diagnosis, treatment, and management. But you’ll notice the improvement on other types of searches as well. Search on a drug name and we’ll find anything that mentions that drug – either the brand or generic name -- and provide a direct link to the medication information. Search on the names of journals, books, authors, or other common types of content, and we’ll provide direct links to those resources. We’ll have recommendations which provide quick access to suggested content, and search refinements to help you narrow down your search results. You should see improved search results on nearly every query on MD Consult, through better use of synonyms to help uncover relevant content, and better interpretation when you search using acronyms, abbreviations, and special characters like apostrophes and dashes. Physicians have enough to think about — you shouldn’t have to think about how our search engine works. And now you won’t have to. You can spend less time trying to find medical information and more time using that information to improve patient care.
