The microphotograph (b) show a peripheral type AB mixed area (right) close to the lung parenchyma (left) with an epithelioid population composed of large, round- to oval-shaped epithelial cells alternating with areas showing a spindle-cell morphology, separated by thin connective tissue strands, and accompanied by a sprinkling of mature small lymphocytes (hematoxylin and eosin stain).
