2. Why Do We Need Standardized Training Materials?
Currently many materials have the following problems:
Too many tools
Non-standardized tools
Lots of materials are outdated
Users can’t be sure which materials are based on evidence
Materials do not use adult-based educational methods
Too many lectures
Minimal interactive and participatory sessions
Inappropriate use of role plays and discussions, etc.
Not competency based – addressing expected knowledge, skills and attitudes of providers

3. Training Resource Package for Family Planning
A web-based collection of the curricular components and tools needed to design, implement, and evaluate up-to-date FP/RH training
Based on evidence-based technical information from WHO publications
Incorporates competency-based training approaches and adult learning principles
Provides up-to-date training materials that can be adapted at the country-level

4. Training Resource Package for Family Planning
Can be used by facilitators and curriculum developers to implement high quality training and education using adult learning techniques.
The materials are appropriate for both pre-service and in-service training and are applicable in both the public and private sectors
Incorporates up-to-date technical content and proven training methodologies
Content can be customized to meet needs of specific training audiences using competency based approach
Can be used by trainers with different levels of training experience – guidance is provided (facilitator’s guide)
