2. Program Overview
Partnership between Georgia Tech and Georgia High Schools
Designed to provide math courses to talented students who have completed qualifying high school Calculus courses.
First year courses: Linear Algebra (MATH 1554) and Multivariable Calculus (MATH 2551)
Second year courses: Applied Combinatorics (MATH 3012) and Differential Equations (MATH 2552)
Courses are taught at the college level with Georgia Tech standards. Beginning of a Georgia Tech transcript.

4. Distance Math vs. Freshman Admission
Admission processes are separate
Separate decisions for each application
Freshman admission considers non-academic factors that are not included in Distance Math admission

7. Application Instructions
Submit online application between May 15 and June 15. It can be found at ation-and-admission
Send/upload transcript that includes Spring grades
Have SAT/ACT and AP Calculus BC scores sent directly to GT from the testing agency. You may self-report unofficial test scores until July 15th. If offered admission, you must have official scores in your application by August 1.

8. Online Application Tips
Complete all required fields on the application
Enter graduation date as your expected high school graduation date
DO NOT leave residency information blank
You may self-report SAT & ACT scores, but official reports from the testing agencies are still required if you are offered admission
You must send or upload a transcript that shows grades through Spring 2019

9. SAT & ACT Scores
Unofficial scores are due by July 15th; official scores are due by August 1st

We will use the highest section scores (Evidence Based Reading and Writing, English, Math, Writing, etc.) from either test and any approved test dates sent to Georgia Tech. If you are submitting SAT, you may only submit scores from March 2016 or later. We do not require Writing scores.

10. AP Exam Scores
If you did not request that your scores be sent to GT when you registered for the AP Calculus BC exam, you will have to self-report your score when it is available Sunday July 7th and IMMEDIATELY request College Board to send your score to GT so that you meet our deadline of August 1st for official scores.
If you are offered admission and your official AP score has not arrived by August 1st, you cannot take the class.

July 20 – Decision Notification on Admission Portal
Aug 1 – Official Test Score Reports from College Board/ACT Due
Aug 15 – Enrollment Documents Due and Processed
Students who DO NOT meet stated deadlines will not be eligible for admission

13. Student Responsibilities
Complete application process properly (including transcripts and test scores)
Check and respond to s throughout the summer. Assign a delegate to do those things for you if you are not available.
If admitted, complete enrollment forms by August 15th

14. Parent Notes
You must let your student complete all parts of the application process. Any evidence that an application has been completed by a parent will disqualify a student.
You will not have access to student grades at Georgia Tech.
You will not talk with your student’s teachers. All responsibility for the class belongs to the student.

15. Course Enrollment
All enrollment documents and information will be available to students on their Admission Portal.

Dual Enrollment Funding Application
Dual Enrollment Student Participation Form
GT will register students for the courses each term

16. Funding Applications
Students must complete a Dual Enrollment Funding Application via GAFutures. This application allows the Dual Enrollment program to pay for your Georgia Tech courses and fees.
The application must be submitted for your counselor’s approval by August 1st.
Counselors will then receive your funding application in their GAFutures portal and confirm that you are taking and funding the correct courses.
Your application must be approved by your counselor by August 19th.

Approved college course work
Compliance with Selective Service (men only)
Award covers cost of tuition, fees and books. Without Dual Enrollment funding, the classes cost:
$1336 tuition
$107 mandatory fees
Approximately $165 books
Total: Approximately $1608 each semester

Does not count toward HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship 127 paid-hours limit
Dual Enrollment (funding) application should be completed online after acceptance into the program

Topics include linear systems, eigenvalues, orthogonality
Applications include Google page rank, least-squares, computer graphics
Multivariable Calculus (Spring)
Extends concepts from differential and integral calculus to multivariable functions
Applications include constrained optimization, centers of mass, fluid flow

Applied Combinatorics (Fall 2019 Semester)
Differential Equations (Spring 2020 Semester)
Asynchronous (no live lectures)
Requires completion of the year one courses to apply

22. Year One: Lectures and Recitations
Classes held from 8:00am to 8:50am
Mon/Wed/Fri: lectures
Tue/Thu: recitations
Run simultaneously with Georgia Tech students
All classes will be recorded and made available to students within 48 hours
All students are expected to attend classes five mornings per week
Students can interact with instructors/teaching assistants during lecture and recitation

23. Year One Exams Three or four midterms
In the fall (Math 1554) there will be 4 or 5 quizzes
Midterms and quizzes are
held at your high school,
proctored by someone from your school,
sent in to Georgia Tech for grading, and
returned to students after they are graded.
Make-up midterms/quizzes available, need to write within one week after midterm/quiz is scheduled.
Make-up final exam only available for illness, according to GT policies for Incomplete Grades
All exam dates will be in course syllabi

24. Year 1 Textbooks
textbooks are online and packaged with online homework
students do not pay for textbooks
students sent a code to access their textbook and homework system
access codes sent to your GT account in the week before lectures start
each student has a unique code: do not share your code

25. Participation Activities
To foster active learning, help students prepare for lectures and midterms, and help students learn course procedures.
Worth a small percentage of final grade (≤ 5%).
Two formats:
Online quizzes and surveys in course website, students do not have to take them in a proctored setting. Open one to two weeks before they are due.
Polls available during lecture/recitation, available through course website or a free app (TurningPoint).
Participation score calculated based on best of the above two formats.

Students can ask questions and find support throughout the semester in a number of ways:

Review materials to help students prepare for exams
