Mrs. Wrenn Room 220 Week of: June 4, 2018
June 7: Franklin Institute Trip, be at school by 8:45, pack a lunch June 8: No School, Teacher In-Service Penncrest Graduation June 19: Early Dismissal June 20: Early Dismissal, Last day for students We have learned a lot this year about how to make our reading lives the best they can be! This week we will spend time reviewing how to tackle tricky words, how to retell effectively, and how to think more deeply about what we read. This will be the last week for Kidbiz, and there will be no jot assigned due to the field trip and in-service day. Our last day for Tools for Success is scheduled for this week. In 4th grade, having a good grasp of multiplication facts will make the topics of division and fractions easier for your child. Ask your child, “Which facts are still hard for you?” Quiz your child on these facts. In science this week we will complete our study of the solar system. We will discuss the moon and it’s orbit around the Earth. We will try to understand why we see different parts of the moon during the month. There will be new vocabulary to learn such as: waxing, waning, satellite, and phase. When there is a clear night, be sure to point out the moon. See what your child can tell you! We are completing our fairy tales this week with endings that fit. We will edit for punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. As we publish our fairy tales we will add illustrations, too! Warm weather has arrived! Your child is welcome to have a water bottle at his/her desk.
