FIGURE 1 Sensitivity and specificity of serum VEGF for distinguishing patients with MPM from non-MPM subjects. An analysis that included 51 patients with MPM and 42 non-MPM subjects with a history of asbestos exposure revealed an area under the curve of (95% confidence interval, –0.9245). At a cutoff value of 460 pg/ml, the diagnostic sensitivity was 70.6%, and the specificity was 88.1%.
