Data that is ORGANIZED and MEANINGFUL

5 User Someone that communicates with a computer or uses the information it generates

6 Hardware The Electric, Electronic, and Mechanical equipment that makes up your computer

7 Examples of Hardware Keyboard Mouse Monitor Printer Modem/ethernet
Speakers Scanner

8 Disk Drives A unit, connected to or situated inside the computer, that reads and writes onto disks

9 CPU CPU = Central Processing Unit
The internal operating unit of the computer The “brain”

10 Software The series of instructions that tells the hardware how to perform

25 Storage Devices Holds data, instructions, and information for future use

26 Types of Storage Devices
Disk CD-Rom CD-rw USB Stick (Jump Drive)

27 Processing The combination of Input, Output, and Storage.
All components are required to make processing occur.

28 INPUT + OUTPUT + STORAGE =
Processing Cycle INPUT + OUTPUT + STORAGE = PROCESSING
