Prehistoric art shows us that homo-sapiens were capable of complex thoughts. Subjects of cave paintings included prehistoric animals, people, and other abstract ideas.

It is unknown why they created cave paintings. Some experts believe that hunter- gatherers believed that paintings would give them power over the animals they hunted.

Cave painting and other art also suggests how humans reacted to what they thought were mysterious and powerful forces. This religious art was an important part of culture.

Religion goes beyond survival and expresses a deeper meaning and understanding of the world. Evidence suggests that early people believed that the natural world was filled with spirits, a belief known as animism.

7 Cave Art Assignment Create your own cave art.
Draw your interests and hobbies as the cave art. Example: I like Harry Potter and videogames. I would draw the house animals and the Ps4 logo, as well as video game logos. Make sure the background is brown or stone colored.
