Dialogue with stakeholders launched in 2012
Why did we launch the new initiative on Large Carnivores? Return of the Large Carnivores (progress in achieving Favourable Conservation Status, with some exceptions), low social acceptance (within certain rural areas/categories), political sensitivities. What has been done? Dialogue with stakeholders launched in 2012 Stakeholder workshop in January, 2013. Initiative well received. Although a diversity of views and desires, enough middle ground to focus on for future action. Supporting studies on Updated population statuses of LC Review of population-level management options Lessons learnt from > 70 LIFE projects on LC conflict-resolution mechanisms applicable to human-large carnivore conflicts
