11 Title of page in Arial Regular 22pt allows for a maximum of two lines of copy
Sub-title copy appears in 16pt Arial Bold – this is Text Level 1 Text Level 2 provides the style for body copy, set in Arial Regular 16pt. This body text is set ‘full-out’ to the left-hand margin and does not have an automatic indent for subsequent lines. Not all slides will need to have a sub-title to the copy; to advance directly to Text Level 2, press the ‘Increase Indent’ button in PowerPoint®. For Windows® users this can be found on the ‘Home’ ribbon, within the ‘Paragraph’ options. For Mac® users you will find this under ‘Bullets and Numbering’ in the ‘Formatting’ palette. Text Level 3 has a horizontal dash bullet for separation of listed items Level 3 bullets are set as ‘full-out’ to the left-hand margin for the first line with subsequent lines being indented to align the text At any time you may navigate back through the indent levels using the ‘Increase Indent’ and ‘Decrease Indent’ buttons. Text Level 3 lists may also have sub-lists as part of the default text level settings: Text Level 4 with a horizontal dash bullet Text Level 5 with a horizontal dash bullet Title of presentation | Presentation by [Enter details in 'Header & Footer' field 18/05/2019

12 Using numbered lists Applying numbering to the body copy
Numbered lists can be specified to the body copy by using the ‘Numbering’ option. For Windows® users this is found on the ‘Home’ ribbon in the ‘Paragraph’ options. For Mac® users this is found in the ‘Formatting’ palette under ‘Bullets and Numbering’. This example shows how the numbering has been coloured red. Numbering may be removed by deselecting the ‘Numbering’ option, body text will then revert to the same style but without the numbers. Additional sub-titles and sub-headings may be used An individual slide may contain a range of numbered or bulleted lists, as required, although it is recommended to minimise the variations on a single slide as much as possible. This slide is an example of how the levels may be mixed It is not intended to be a guide to presenting specific information Title of presentation | Presentation by [Enter details in 'Header & Footer' field 18/05/2019

The same ‘Large Title and Content’ slide layout can be used for larger body text and bulleted lists Using the ‘Large Text and Content’ slide layout The ‘Large Text and Content’ slide layout includes the large statement copy level but this can be bypassed, straight to Level 3 text, to get continuous body copy in 22pt Arial Regular. Level 4 provides a bulleted list set up with horizontal dashes The text levels can be used together or on their own, depending on the content and presentation of how it is best suited Details on how to work with the text levels for Windows® and for Mac® users is included on Slide 11 Title of presentation | Presentation by [Enter details in 'Header & Footer' field 18/05/2019

Placing of content should ideally be aligned to the horizontal guide to align with the text in the adjacent column Caption copy is set up as a default textbox style; the box is set to resize with the addition of copy so this should not need to be resized Caption copy is set in 10pt Arial Italic with the credit and centre details, etc. to be added below the caption copy in Arial Regular. 18 ‘Text + Four Picture’ slide layout example
Sub-title remains in 16pt Arial Bold This slide layout has been set up with predefined positions for four pictures to be placed along the width of the text area. If the images to be shown are more portrait in format the boxes may be extended upwards; this assumes that there is sufficient space to encroach into the default text area. If captions are not required, this space may be taken up by a full image area. If captions are required, try to keep the copy to a minimum. 24 Standard PowerPoint 2007® shapes are used for a range of text-based charts and diagrams
Shapes for text box charts and diagrams Sub-head in bold Text in Arial Regular, this example shows 14pt on a ‘single’ line spacing but the size can vary according to content being used. Rounded corners These should follow the style shown here, using the adjuster handles to achieve the correct rounded corner effect for the text box. Copy and paste Use the shapes on these example pages and scale the size, as necessary, to work with the content. To indicate flow Simple arrowheads should be used, the ones shown here have been added /grouped with the standard shape object. Copy and paste The grouped object, with the arrow, can be copied and pasted and reused for further charts. Multiple size boxes When using a number of different sized boxes on a single slide, try to keep a regular size to the rounded corners. The size can vary according to the text content of the chart but try to avoid using multiple text sizes in a single chart as this can become distracting to the audience. Where bulleted lists are included , these should use a horizontal dash The text should range with the first line of text in the bulleted list item Follow the example, shown here, for a guide to the style of bulleted list when adjusting manually for text indents Single words may be emphasised with bold or stressed with italic Alternative fonts should not be used at any time Bold heading Example type is set in 12pt Arial Regular This is an example chart only and shows a summary box with heading, intro text and bulleted list Bold heading Example type is set in 12pt Arial Regular This is an example chart only and shows a summary box with heading, intro text and bulleted list Bold heading Example type is set in 12pt Arial Regular This is an example chart only and shows a summary box with heading, intro text and bulleted list Title of presentation | Presentation by [Enter details in 'Header & Footer' field 18/05/2019

26 Text content and diagram example
Using text and diagrams together Text and diagrams may be used together with the text positioned either to the left, or the right, of the page. The diagram elements shown on this page may be copied and pasted for reuse: The shaped objects are a standard available selection from the ‘rectangle’ shapes in PowerPoint 2007® The simple arrows are taken from the arrow shapes Take care to maintain consistent visual appearance of these elements, using the arrows for flow diagrams and keeping proportions the same throughout the presentation.
