2 The University Technology Fee
$20 per semester fee assessed to all students Flat fee – paid once each semester Created by ASCSU in April 2003 First assessed to students the following fall semester Originally $15/semester UTFAB voted unanimously in March 2008 to increase the fee to $20/semester

3 U T F A B University Technology Fee Advisory Board Members
One representative from each academic college (and Intra-University) One representative from the Graduate School Two At-Large reps, appointed by ASCSU Associate representatives Advisor: Vice President for Information Technology Source: Article III – UTFAB Bylaws

5 Meetings - Are we through yet?
Every other week during Fall 2008 Likely every week for part of the Spring semester Quorum: 7 members Fall 2008 – meetings will (mostly) be held in Morgan Library Room 203 Regularly lasting less than 60 minutes Source: Article V – UTFAB Bylaws

6 UTFAB Responsibilities
“Responsible for reviewing the services and budgets for all areas funded by the University Technology Fee.” Fall Semester Presentations… Update on funded projects progress 3 year project plans and budgets Supplemental Funding Proposals Source: Article VI – UTFAB Bylaws

7 UTFAB Responsibilities
Spring Semester Presentations… Update on project progress Funding request for following fiscal year 3 year project plan Supplemental Funding Proposals Conclusion of Spring presentations Board will vote on “feasible scenarios” Source: Article VI, VII – UTFAB Bylaws

8 UTFAB Funding Rules 1. The project’s ability to benefit as many Colorado State University students as possible; 2. The project’s ability to effectively utilize the fee; 3. The project proposal is not funded through individual college Charges for Technology; 4. The project’s adherence to its planned budget and accountability for its expenses throughout the past fiscal year, if appropriate; 5. 6. The effort, thought, justification and clarity reflected in the project plan and presentation; 7. The justification for the project provided to the Board in the form of quantitative student usage information; 8. The level of financial co-sponsorship being contributed to the project by the University; 9. The project's contribution to the overall balance between central and distributed technology in the University information technology environment; 10. The costs and potential benefits of the project.
