Hi I'm a student at Newbury college and as part of my project in citizenship I'm doing safe standing in football. in this project I explain how football fans don’t want to sit down anymore and create a better atmosphere at football games by standing up and makeing noise. A few cases have shown that it is not as easy as thought as football supporters are getting thrown out for refusing to sit down at football games because of this there is a petition which has gone to a government vote.
I'm intersed in this as I'm a massive football fan and travel up and down the country with reading football club.

3. Facts about safe standing.
Safe standing is a term used to describe various design options in stadia to allow spectators to stand at events. It is primarily used in the context of association football in the United Kingdom, where a series of fatal incidents led to legislation requiring major clubs to develop all-seater stadiums during the 1990s
Is it illegal to stand at a football match?
The Legalities of Standing. Many supporters believe that it is illegal to stand at football matches in the Premier League or Championship but this is not actually the case. Although clubs are allowed to throw you out if you refuse to sit down.
Many league one and league two clubs have terrace standing e.g. hard standing so it will be unreserved seating.
With this in mind many more people each games with this research shows
many enjoy this experience.

4. Club Club 1871 are a Reading FC fan group who have formed to try and create a loud, positive atmosphere at the Madejski Stadium throughout the 90 minutes. One of the aims is to make home games feel like the best away games. The target is to improve the atmosphere in and around the stadium with a group who started way back April They have raised money from other fans at reading to buy banners and flags with that money and created a real atmosphere for the team in the lasted few months it has risen from around 300 to 1100 and with this in mind the south stand are expected to sell out the stand for the last game of the season against Birmingham city. Way back in April 2018 club 1871 started with just 50 people against Preston.. Now is about to smash its record of 1100 on a themed day “Portugal day” for the royals manager Jose Gomes on the last game of the season against Birmingham city.

Safety is commonly perceived to be the main reason for all-seating.

6. What are rail seats?
Rail seats. There is a safety barrier and a seat on every row (or two). The seats are locked into an upright position for domestic games and supporters stand between the barriers. For European games, the seats are simply unlocked.
