Slide Outline Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Discuss with someone next to you. To group: has anyone in the room been impacted by decisions they did not have a part in creating, or which you did not understand or agree to?

3 Activity What style of question(s) is/are likely to be most effective when facilitating? Slide Aim To highlight the more effective (and ineffective) styles of questioning for use when facilitating. Slide Outline Working in small groups, discuss the question, and think of situations where they have experienced ineffective questioning (5min) Ask groups to present thoughts and situations (5min)

Slide outline Let group know there are many, many ‘styles’ of questions but it’s probably best to think of questioning styles in simple terms. As a lead into next slide: Which style is best for when time is short? Which style is best for creating understanding?

6 Reflection Take a couple of minutes to write down how effective questioning might help you at work or at home. Slide Aim To practise reflecting as a part of the process of learning. Slide Outline Individually and quietly get people to reflect on the discussions on questioning and write down what meaning they might take away that could be useful at work or generally.
