-used to indicate that there is a relationship between two quantities such that when there are A units of one quantity, there are B units of the second quantity
A ratio is always a pair of numbers such as 2:3. It is never a pair of quantities such as 2cm: 3 sec. Keep track of the units in a word problem separately. Ratio relationships describe phrase in a word problem tht indicates a ratio. Ex. A ratio relationship is “3 cups to 4 cups,” or “5 miles in 4 hours.” The ratios would be 3:4 or 5:4
