2 23 - 37 DO NOW: (No calculators, pencils, talking or air writing)
Take out your homework. Solve using mental math (No calculators, pencils, talking or air writing) 3. You will have 2 minutes to get this done

3 Objective I will be able to use variables to write expressions involving addition and subtraction from real-world problems So that I can evaluate these expressions when given the value of the variable and complete tables from the information. I will know I got it when I can successfully complete at least 3 out of the 4 stations with at least 80% accuracy. 6.EE.A.2 , 6.EE.B.6

4 Language Objective By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the language domains of reading and writing to communicate the academic math language of variables and expressions. They verbally explain and write to evaluate expressions when given values to variables as they complete a given table. Students will show their understanding when they complete 3 out of 4 stations as they properly use the academic math vocabulary of variable and expression as they work on the stations. Academic Math Language Vocabulary: Expression, evaluate, variable, equations

5 Lesson 19: pg. 83 Take 35 seconds to read this story problem & table.
My sister’s age is always two years more than my age. Take another 35 seconds to read the questions. 10 years old Since my sister’s age is always 2 years more than my age, we just add 2 to my age =10 18 years old Since my sister’s age is always 2 years more than my age, we just add 2 to my age =18 No; the pattern is to add 2 to your age to get your sister’s age.

6 Lesson 19: pg. 84 (Example 1) Y Y+2 Your sister is Y + 2 years old.

7 4 years old 13 years old My sister is 2 years older than I am

8 You would subtract 2 years from my sister’s age
My age is G – 2 years old and my sister’s age is G years old 20, 21 and 22 years old
