Science—Ms. Gaudet Open House
2
Our Purpose Open House is designed to provide a time to address general curriculum and procedural questions in a large group setting. This time is not for individual student questions.

What is the flow of a normal class?
Fill out agenda: CW and HW Warm Up Review Objectives Review Essential Questions Lesson Activities(s) Exit Slip/Agenda Check

Friday, 8/10 Turn on the computer. While it is booting up…
Fill out your agenda: CW and HW. Turn in “Modeling Earth’s Atmosphere” to the bin— ONLY TURN IN YOUR MODEL, NOT THE DIRECTION PAGE Go to the Dragon Team Website. Go to the Science Links and Docs section

Interims Find the item that has been graded and passed back.
Oh no! I found a mistake on my interim. What do I do? Yikes!! I do not like my grade. How can I fix this before mom and dad see? Find the item that has been graded and passed back. Circle the item’s name on the interim. Staple them together. Take them home and show mom and dad. On Monday, turn them into the bin and I will fix the grade. You can’t fix it BEFORE mom and dad see, but you can fix it for next time. Identify the problem: Is your assignment complete? Why didn’t you turn it in on the due date? Determine if the item is from the current unit—proceed accordingly. Talk with mom and dad about a game plan to help you fix the problem.
6
Objectives Content Objective Language objective Students will understand that the Earth’s atmosphere is composed of layers that vary in properties. Students will gather data and answer questions about air pressure differences of the Earth’s atmosphere in an online activity.
7
Essential Questions What happens to the Earth’s atmosphere as the altitude increases? (Think about air pressure, temperature, ozone, etc.)
8
Altitude—distance from sea level on Earth
Low Altitude High Altitude
9
Exit Slip As altitude increases, what happens to air pressure? (Please answer in complete sentences.)

Is there a textbook? We don’t usually use a textbook in class
At home We don’t usually use a textbook in class The best place to look for study materials is in a student’s binder If you like to reference a book, visit my website for a link to our online textbook.
