Sweetwater Elementary Faculty Meeting

2 The purpose of this presentation is to give you an overview of the data at Sweetwater Elementary School over the past 3 years. The CRCT data will show you how scores varied from grades 3-5 over the past 3 years and also how Sweetwater’s scores compare to both district and state. Demographic data is also provided. This presentation will serve to give a better understanding of the data and set the stage for dialogue as to what move we should make next.

6 Sweetwater Demographic Data Free and Reduced Lunch
Enrollment numbers have dropped at Sweetwater but the percentage of free and reduced lunch has continued to increase. What does this say about our demographics?

7 Sweetwater Elementary CRCT Data 3rd Grade- 2011, 2012, 2013
Percentage Meets or Exceeds For 3rd grade students, ELA and Reading are definitely strengths. Students continue to struggle with math and math has been a continual focus on our SIP. n=111 n=110 n=105 Years

8 Sweetwater Elementary CRCT Data 4th Grade- 2011, 2012, 2013
Percentage Meets or Exceeds 4th Grade test scores are fairly consistent. Math is more of a strength for 4th graders than it is for 3rd and 5th graders. Students also perform considerably better in Science and Social Studies than in 3rd grade. n=99 n=110 n=91 Years

16 Data Summary Strengths
4th Grade test scores are fairly consistent. Math is more of a strength for 4th graders than it is for 3rd and 5th graders. Students also perform considerably better in Science and Social Studies than in 3rd grade. Reading continues to be a strength, especially in 5th Grade. Reading scores have increased in all three grade levels from 5th grade math scores have gotten increasingly better over the past 3 years.

17 Data Summary Weaknesses
Sweetwater’s test scores continue to fall below the scores of both district and state. Math continues to show the biggest gap. 3rd grade math scores continue to fall below 70% mastery when the goal is at least 85%.

How do we identify the learner-centered problem in our areas of weakness? Why do you think we are weak in these areas? Consider teaching practices versus blaming student achievement. What can we do in our instructional practices to improve student achievement?
