16 Looking Ahead… A day is too short A month is too long A week is just right

17 Use Weekends as Launching Point for the Week
Set up a reoccurring day/time. Discuss big tasks and extracurriculars. “What do you have this week?” “What could get in your way of getting it done?”

18 Powerful Questions Instead of “Do you have homework?”
Try “What are your priorities today?” Helps kids that tend to procrastinate and those who are overly anxious.

19 Ask Powerful Questions
Instead of “Did you study for your science test?” Try “What’s the first thing you might do to get ready for the science test?” Instead of “You better start that history project!” Try “What’s something small you can do to get started on the history project?”

20 Yes/No/Why Questions:
Powerful Questions: Do you have homework? What are your priorities today? Did you study for that science test? What’s the one thing you might do to study for your science test? Are you ready for your big English exam? On a scale of 1-10, how prepared do you feel for the English exam? Why didn’t you study? Going forward, what’s the one thing you might do differently? Why didn’t you turn that in? Did something get in your way of getting that assignment done?
