Play matchmakers in the atomic dating game!
Monday, october 20th, 2014 Draw a Bohr model of Chlorine and also a Bohr model of one element that might bond with it. Explain why they would bond together. Today we will: Play matchmakers in the atomic dating game!
3
Monday, october 20th, 2014 How many protons, neutrons and electrons does one atom of Neon have? Today we will: Watch a clip about how small an atom is Use our iPad app to build the ten atoms from our worksheet we did last Thursday Have some time to review for our elements quiz – TOMORROW!!
4
Tuesday, october 21st, 2014 What is the difference between a solute and a solvent? (Remember, if you don’t know, at least make an educated guess!) Today we will: Do a kool-aid demo and fill in the next small piece of notes on our packets Watch some Hunting the Elements clips on our iPads Complete a note-taking worksheet on our own Have some time to review for a quiz on Chemistry so far By the end of the day we should feel ready for our quiz tomorrow!
5
Tuesday, october 21st, 2014 As you come into the room take out your note cards right away and get some extra studying in for your elements quiz! Today we will: Take our elements quiz Talk about the difference between a compound and a molecule Watch some video clips about how compounds and molecules form
6
Wednesday, october 22nd, 2014 As you come into the room, grab your iPad, go onto the activities page on my website and use the Chemistry quiz quizlet to study with a partner for your quiz today Today we will: Watch a review video Take a quiz on the first part of our Chemistry unit Start talking about physical and chemical properties and changes
7
Wednesday, october 22nd, 2014 What is the difference between a compound and a molecule? Today we will: Take part in a periodic table contest Watch a couple of videos about atoms and electrons
8
Thursday, october 23rd, 2014 What is the difference between a physical and a chemical property? Provide an example of each. Today we will: Add a little more information to our note packets Start work on some problems for this part of the unit By the end of the day you should feel comfortable identifying properties and changes as either physical or chemical
9
Thursday, october 23rd, 2014 As you come into the room, take out a sheet of paper and get ready to learn how to draw a Bohr model of an atom Today we will: Draw models of atoms Learn that atoms are lazy, lonely, and shallow Read a current events story on newsela By the end of today you should be able to draw a model of an atom of any element on the periodic table
10
Friday, october 24th, 2014 What is the difference between a physical and a chemical change? Provide an example of each. Today we will: Review our notes and our probe sheets from yesterday Work on a physical and chemical changes lab
