Topic 20: Data, Graphs, & Probability
Third grade Math By: Saahil Momin
2
Important Words Certain- It will happen.
Unlikely- It wont happen in the this place, might happen somewhere else. Likely- A good chance of that thing to happen. Impossible- no chance at all and can’t happen.
3
Tally Chart You can make a better way of a survey chart.
Just take the names of the things and put them on one side and tally marks (for each person) on the other side. There can be 4 lines and 4 lines with one across = 5.
4
Pictographs A pictographs has pictures or symbols to show data.
The key explains what each picture represents. The pictures help to see which row is the longest and which one is the shortest. Keys are important so it can tell you what the symbol or pictures stand for.
5
How to make a Pictograph
First make the title. Next, choose a symbol for the key and find out what will be the half symbol and what will be the full symbol. (Full will be 10 and half would be 5) Set up the graph and list the kind of things. Decide how many symbols are needed for each number and draw them.
6
How to make a Bar Graph A bar graph showing the data from another table would have different sized bars of each thing. Use the data in the table to make a bar graph on grid paper. A bar graph make data easier to compare. First write a title. Next, choose the scale and decide how many units each grid line will represent. Set up the graph with the scale, each thing listed in the table, and labels. Then draw the bars.
7
How likely How likely show how many times something will happen again and again. Ex: If u take a spinner and there is more color of the white then what color will likely be spinned on. The white color because it has a greater amount of that color than the others.
8
Using Graphs, Bar Graphs and Pictographs Help
Using these three things are easy to compare data and other things. It helps you to see how much of this thing and whats the amount.
