DUETS! A Duet in theatre terms is a scene consisting of two people performing. In a Duet both performers in the scene are of equal importance.

DUETS! Some important things to know before we begin with your Duets. Vocabulary! Stage Directions: an instruction in the text of a play, especially one indicating the movement, position, or tone of an actor, or the sound effects and lighting Example: “Actor A exits Stage Left” Blocking: the details of an actor's moves. Example: Actor A: Quietly tip toe towards the door

DUETS! Stage Left: on the right side of a stage from the point of view of the audience. Stage Right: on the left side of a stage from the point of view of the audience. Center Stage: Dead Center of the Stage Downstage: Closer to the Audience in the Center Downstage Left: on the right side of a stage from the point of view of the audience, near them. Downstage Right: on the left side of a stage from the point of view of the audience, near them. UpStage: Away from the Audience in the Center Upstage Left: on the right side of a stage from the point of view of the audience, away from them. Upstage Right: on the left side of a stage from the point of view of the audience, away from them.
