Montgomery College - Dual Enrollment
Excellence Is The Only Option Montgomery College - Dual Enrollment Criteria for Admission to Montgomery College Must be at least 16 years old Must have completed Sophomore year with a 2.75 GPA Must have approval of a parent/ guardian, counselor, and principal Must meet pre-requisite requirements and assessment levels for each course Students and families are expected to pay for tuition, fees and textbook expenses (Financial Assistance Available) May take courses at Sherwood or at MC *** For more information contact Ms. Avery in Counseling *** Achievement * Civility * Engagement *Unity* Integrity

Excellence Is The Only Option Selecting Courses for College Requirements English Four years of English Mathematics Four years of mathematics in high school, including rigorous courses in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II Natural Sciences Three years of science, including rigorous courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Social Studies Three years of social studies Additional Courses Some colleges and universities require other classes as prerequisites for admission, such as two or more years of the same foreign language in high school or courses in the visual arts, music, theater, drama, dance, computer science, etc. *Specific high school course requirements vary from institution to institution. Excellence Is The Only Option THINK: Challenge AND Balance Don’t overload your schedule just because it “looks good”. Highlight your strengths. Don’t feel like you need to take advanced courses in EVERY subject area. Think about academics in addition to extra-curricular activities and other commitments (job). Class sizes get FULL. Excellence Is The Only Option Naviance: College & Career Student Resource Career Interest Profiler – (all 10th graders completed) a tool that can help you discover the types of work activities and careers that match your interests. Research colleges – (Spring 10th grade lesson) Using the Career interest Profiler, students will explore areas of study offered at colleges and other post-secondary options. Sign up for college visits – Find out which colleges are visiting Sherwood and sign up to attend those sessions Keep track of the process – Build a resume, manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers Request eDocuments (transcript, letters of recommendation) during your senior year Achievement * Civility * Engagement *Unity* Integrity
