University of California, San Diego undergraduate and Antioch University Seattle graduate school Spent 9 years working for the National Park Service in Yosemite and Olympic NP Got married this past August! Professional Bachelors in Biological Anthropology Currently working towards a Masters in Teaching Worked as a paraprofessional at IVE in the 16’-17’ school year for LRC and preschool

8 How You Can Help Bring your students to school on time. Provide a homework routine – a spot and time Review and sign Friday Envelope- Due on Monday’s To contact me with problems, questions, concerns, or compliments! PTA – sign-up and check out the website Sign up to volunteer for copies, classroom parties, etc at the end of this presentation  If you wish to volunteer, you will need to apply for a background check on the IVE school website. It is my hope that parents will become just as excited about fourth grade as their students!

9 Homework Our district and school are committed to having homework that is meaningful and manageable. Currently here is what you can expect: Planners Math – 3-4 nights a week Reading – 30 minutes a night – at least! Market Place Products

Kids get to see us partner together We are all on the same page as far as learning goals Any issues can get taken care of right there We get to celebrate their progress right in front of them Get kids communicating about their learning, empowering them Conference Dates: December 6th and 7th Sign-ups will be through Skyward

17 Social Studies Field Testing:
Elementary Social Studies is currently in the adoption process to ensure that materials are standard-aligned and modern in their approach. Our class may be covering topics that differ from our peers.  Our pacing of topics may be quicker, as field-testing concludes the end of February.  Our input matters.  Our class will have a say in making sure social studies is standard-aligned, modern in its approach, and inclusive to all.   Fourth Grade Social Studies: Fall  This fall our class will be focusing on the big idea of Washington Earliest Times in Social Studies.  Washington Earliest Times: This inquiry focuses on Washington’s physical geography in general and on the relationship between Native American nations and their environments (pre-1700) in particular through the compelling question “Where and how did the earliest Washingtonians live?”
