Introduction Example #1
A recent study showed that students who exercise at a young age develop a life-long exercise habit. I am for the competitive sport requirement because it will strengthen school spirit, improve overall GPAs, and decrease the obesity rate. This is not the best introduction. Why?

Introduction Example #2
A recent study showed that students who exercise at a young age develop a life-long exercise habit. Considering the growing number of Americans who are overweight, we must learn how to exercise while we are teenagers. I am for the competitive sport requirement because it will strengthen school spirit, improve overall GPAs, and decrease the obesity rate. This is better, but it could be improved. How?

Introduction Example #3
A recent study showed that students who exercise at a young age develop a life-long exercise habit. Considering the growing number of Americans who are overweight, we must learn how to exercise while we are teenagers. To address this problem, the school board has proposed that each student in the district should be required to play a sport to graduate from high school. I am for the competitive sport requirement because it will strengthen school spirit, improve overall GPAs, and decrease the obesity rate.

Conclusion Example #1 Because it will strengthen our school’s spirit, improve GPA’s, and help to decrease the obesity rate, I am in favor of the competitive sports requirement. While there are some potential drawbacks to the program, the benefits far outweigh the potential problems. If we do not enact the competitive sport requirement, our nation will continue to get fatter. By requiring every student to participate in a sports program, we not only take steps toward solving the obesity problem, but we also teach our students the valuable skills of discipline, teamwork, and sacrifice. I strongly urge the school board to enact the competitive sport requirement. If enacted, this requirement will benefit many generations to come, and strengthen our community in many ways.
