Pictures can be inserted from the ClipArt collection or from a file.
Use the Insert Tab on the Ribbon to add ClipArt, Pictures, SmartArt Graphics, etc.
Whenever you are editing a picture, PPT offers you 28 different style options to alter picture shapes.

The Review Ribbon includes the proofing tools, comments, and protections.
When you use Spell Check, it will check the spelling of entire document.
If Spell Check identifies a word as being misspelled that is spelled correctly, you can add the word to the custom dictionary in the PowerPoint Options Dialog Box.
Spell check is not considered formatting text.
