2. 2D shapes 2D shapes are flat.
2D shapes are shapes that only have 1 face.
2D shapes can only be a drawing or picture.
On paper a 3D shape is still 2D.
2D means 2 dimensional those 2 dimensions
are height and width.

3. 3D shapes A cube is 3D. A cone is 3D. A rectangular prism is 3D.
Pyramids are 3D shapes.
3D means 3 dimensional. Those 3 dimensions are height, width, and depth.

4. Example Questions 1. Is the moon 3D or 2D? Do you have proof?
2. Draw a square and a rectangle.  Then analyze each.  Is a square a rectangle?  Use your analysis to justify your answer.
3. Match and analyze the quadrilaterals below. What makes a trapezoid different from many of the other types of quadrilaterals? 
4. Explain what a quadrilateral is. 
5. A teacher said that 2D shapes are made of lines. Criticize this teachers statement.

5. Example Answers 1.The moon is 3D because Neil Armstrong stood on it.
2. Yes, a square is a rectangle, because a rectangle has four sides, 2 sets of parallel sides, and 4 right angles,
so does a square.  The only difference is that a square is a special kind of rectangle, because all four sides are equal.

3. A trapezoid is different because it doesn't have any right angles.

4.A quadrilateral is any shape that has 4 sides.
5. This teacher is wrong because lines go on forever and shapes are made of points.
