2. All Classes Agenda
I will be absent on this day with no tutoring. Below are the substitute plans.
Remind students they are to turn in their Novel, Part II Questions that are due today. They will be considered late tomorrow. Then, distribute the Part III Novel HW worksheet to students. Tell students after they read the short story and answer the questions, they can begin on their hw which is due on Friday.
Students will read A Sound of Thunder on pgs in Holt, Elements of Literature. These are the purple books in the back of the classroom. Students will then answer ALL questions on pg. 514, 1 – 10, using complete sentences. This includes “the writing” section. On the board, there is a writing prompt they should finish after the book questions which is, “How does this future world relate to the future world you have been reading about in your novel? Is this a dystopia? Why or why not?”
Please collect the questions before they leave and place the papers in the tray on the bookshelf for the class period. Students who do not finish, and are reported as talkative/disruptive, will need to finish the assignment with me during lunch next week.

Complete the Week 22 Warm Up Sheet for Monday. Third quarter will focus on writing and vocabulary development as opposed to stem words and grammar.
Go over the SPY Project with students.
Distribute the Part III HW which is due on Friday
Have them work in partners to complete the Close Reading Character Development for Anthem and Fahrenheit 451. This will be hw if they do not finish.
As students work on their characterization worksheet, I will circulate and have students choose names for their SPY Project.

5. 3rd and 5th: Agenda
Complete the Week 22 Warm Up Sheet for Monday. Third quarter will focus on writing and vocabulary development as opposed to stem words and grammar.
Distribute the Part III HW which is due on Friday
Distribute the Anthem Character Analysis Sheet
Give students a few minutes to summarize the story in their own words and then time to answer the MC questions. Review the questions.
Students should spend the rest of time with one partner to answer the character questions

Students will complete the Tuesday portion of their warm up which includes the MC Questions and the dictionary look up. We will discuss connotations and denotations
Distribute the Education and Technology Dystopias Packet And Complete the First Two Pages About 1984
Have students create something that represents the protagonists’ feelings in their totalitarian state. This could be a poem, journal entry, art piece, etc. And a three sentence blurb explaining your piece. What is not finished is hw.
