What internal and external factors after Charlemagne’s death weakened kingdoms in Europe? One of the Frankish rulers gave land in western France to the Vikings. Why did the ruler give land to the Vikings? To encourage the Vikings to become part of Europe civilization instead of attacking Europeans.

Why did the collapse of governments lead to the new political and social order known as Feudalism? What was the difference between a knight and a vassal? What did lords have to do in exchange for the military service of knights and vassals?
