What do you need to achieve in the next year to set you on your way to achieving your Big Picture goals? Set a few “small steps” with different deadlines For example, within a month, within six months, and within 9 months

Periodically review and change/update your Big Picture to fit your changing priorities and experiences

15 More tips… Be precise-dates, times, amounts
Prioritize-focus on most important goals Write it down & display it! Keep the small steps small-progress made will be more rewarding Try adding small addendums of what to avoid Ex. Original Goal: I will study every night before a test. Ex. Add: I will not use any technology when I get home on the night before a test until I have studied for 30 minutes

16 Tips con’t… Set performance goals, not outcome goals
Do this-> PERFORMANCE: I will study my notes the night before every history test for at least 30 minutes this semester. SUPER specific, and requires an action Don’t do this-> OUTCOME: I will get an A in history. Requires no specific action or task Reward yourself appropriately!
