Gathering Around the WORD Call to Worship (Based on Psalm 62:5-8)
For God alone our souls wait in silence, for our hope is from him. God alone is our rock and our salvation, our fortress; We shall not be shaken. On God rests our deliverance and our honor; our mighty rock, our refuge is in God. Trust in God at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.

For thyself, best gift divine to the world so freely given; for that great, great love of thine, peace on earth and joy in heaven: Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.
8
Gathering Around the WORD Call to Confession (1 John 1:8-9) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith, let us come to God with a renewed and right spirit, confessing our sins before God and our neighbors.
9
Gathering Around the WORD Prayer of Confession (in Unison)
Forgiving God, we repent of all the ways we turn from you. You call, but we do not listen; you show us your path, but we prefer our own way. Forgive us, heal us, and lead us back to you, that we might show mercy to others. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
10
Gathering Around the WORD Declaration of Forgiveness
God calls us when we are least expected and at the precise moment. God is willing to listen to what we have to say from the sincerity of our hearts. God has extended the invitation to us so that we may live fully in His glory. Thanks be to God, Amen.
11
Gathering Around the WORD Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

13
Proclaiming the WORD Message to the Youth/ Prayer of Illumination
14
Proclaiming the WORD Scripture Reading (Jonah 3:1-5, 10)
1The word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time, saying, 2“Get up, go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.” 3So Jonah set out and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly large city, a three days’ walk across. 4Jonah began to go into the city, going a day’s walk. And he cried out, “Forty days more, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” 5And the people of Nineveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast, and everyone, great and small, put on sackcloth.
15
Proclaiming the WORD Scripture Reading (Jonah 3:1-5, 10)
10When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil ways, God changed his mind about the calamity that he had said he would bring upon them; and he did not do it.
16
Proclaiming the WORD Scripture Reading (Mark 1:14-20)
14Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, 15and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.” 16As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea — for they were fishermen. 17And Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you fish for people.” 18And immediately they left their nets and followed him.
17
Proclaiming the WORD Scripture Reading (Mark 1:14-20)
19As he went a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets. 20Immediately he called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, and followed him.
18
Proclaiming the WORD (Jonah 3:1-5, 10 and Mark 1:14-20)
Drop Everything

Responding Hymn # 724 “O Jesus, I Have Promised”
O Jesus, I have promised to serve thee to the end; be thou forever near me, my Master and my friend; I shall not fear the battle if thou art by my side, nor wander from the pathway if thou wilt be my guide.
20
Responding Hymn # 724 “O Jesus, I Have Promised”
O let me feel thee near me! The world is ever near: I see the sights that dazzle; the tempting sounds I hear. My foes are ever near me, around me and within; but, Jesus, draw thou nearer and shield my soul from sin.
21
Responding Hymn # 724 “O Jesus, I Have Promised”
O let me hear thee speaking in accents clear and still, above the storms of passion, the murmurs of self-will; O speak to reassure me, to hasten or control; O speak, and make me listen, thou guardian of my soul.
22
Responding Hymn # 724 “O Jesus, I Have Promised”
O Jesus, thou hast promised to all who follow thee that where thou art in glory there shall thy servant be. And, Jesus, I have promised to serve thee to the end; O give me grace to follow, my Master and my friend.
23
Proclaiming the WORD Affirmation of Faith (Philippians 2:5-11) in unison
Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross.
24
Proclaiming the WORD Affirmation of Faith (Philippians 2:5-11) in unison
Therefore, God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Sending Hymn #761 “Called as Partners in Christ’s Service”
Called as partners in Christ’s service, called to ministries of grace, we respond with deep commitment fresh new lines of faith to trace. May we learn the art of sharing, side by side and friend with friend, equal partners in our caring to fulfill God’s chosen end.
32
Sending Hymn #761 “Called as Partners in Christ’s Service”
Christ’s example, Christ’s inspiring, Christ’s clear call to work and worth, let us follow, never faltering, reconciling folk on earth. Men and women, richer, poorer, all God’s people, young and old, blending human skills together gracious gifts from God unfold.
33
Sending Hymn #761 “Called as Partners in Christ’s Service”
Thus new patterns for Christ’s mission, in a small or global sense, help us bear each other’s burdens, breaking down each wall or fence. Words of comfort, words of vision, words of challenge, said with care, bring new power and strength for action, make us colleagues, free and fair.
34
Sending Hymn #761 “Called as Partners in Christ’s Service”
So God grant us for tomorrow ways to order human life that surround each person’s sorrow with a calm that conquers strife. Make us partners in our living, our compassion to increase, messengers of faith, thus giving hope and confidence and peace.
