LESSON 11-2 Definitions A spreadsheet is an electronic worksheet that organizes data in columns and rows. Spreadsheets can perform calculations and graph data using different types of graphs. Line graphs show trends (patterns) over time. A double line graph compares two lines on the same set of axes. A bar graph allows you to show the relative size of different categories. A double bar graph compares the relative size of two sets of data. When more than one set of data is graphed, a legend identifies the different data sets, or series. 11-2

LESSON 11-2 Histogram vs. Bar graph Histogram usually represent “continuous data” – data that represents measured quantity e.g. Height, weight, etc. bars do not overlap and there is no gap between the bars Bar graph usually used to display “categorical data” i.e. data that fits into categories e.g. Different types of icing sugar on donuts bars have space between them 11-2
