2 Personal Introduction
I consider it an honor to work with you and your child this year. This is my fourteenth year of teaching 5th grade and my twentieth year at Roundstone. I have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education, and a Masters of Arts Degree in Education with an emphasis in Reading/Writing. I completed both of these degrees at Eastern Kentucky Univiversity. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher 2017.

3 Curriculum Our curriculum is aligned with current state standards. We focus on literacy skills(reading, writing, speaking, listening), math skills (computation and problem solving), and integrated units of study based on social studies and science. For a detailed list of the standards visit the website below.

4 Learning Environment I believe for a child to learn to their highest potential they must feel safe in their classroom. Classroom rules are listed in the Positive Discipline Plan and on your child’s SOAR report. These documents will be sent home for your review the first week of school. 4

Soar Report – This report comes home on Friday. It includes: 1. An accumulated total of tallies for the week. This will help you and your child know specific areas to work. 2. Any personal notes, and missing assignments will be included in this report. 3. The Soar Report should be reviewed and signed by the parent and returned every Monday. 5
