2 Monday Bell Ringer: You will present your ball today. At least two sides. Afterwards, you will have the bell to finish any make-up work. You can re-take any Membean quizzes, 10x10 or finish any late work, but after this class, your grade is final!

You will practice on Membean Quiz will be on Fridays Tuesday: Reading Plus You will begin the required readings Wednesday: SSR You will read for the bell and complete a reading log You will need to complete at least one book by the end of the quarter Thursday Reading Plus/ Prepare for Fluency Friday You will complete the required readings You will read the article for Fluency Friday and answer the questions You will take a 10x10 over the bell ringers Friday: Fluency Friday You will read a passage to Mrs. Webster While you wait, you will complete a Membean Quiz and finish any Reading Plus assignments When everyone is finished, we will have a discussion over the passage

6 Grading: Membean Quiz: Summative Reading Plus: Summative
You will be allowed to retake in class, but final grade is what I put in gradebook Reading Plus: Summative Grade is based on score you receive from questions about passage. You will lose 3 points for each assignment that is not completed. This is the only assignment that is hard to make up, so use your time wisely! 10x10: Summative Bell Ringer is the same as quiz plus two questions SSR: Formative Weekly summaries are formative Will dock points if you are not using time wisely! Fluency Friday: Formative You will read a passage and receive points based on fluency and comprehension If we get to the discussion, you will receive points and Green Cards for discussing the passage and staying on task.

7 Reading Plus: Reading Plus is a software that will take your reading comprehension and give you passages based on that comprehension. This is a proven software that helps students improve their reading. The good news is that you get to select articles that are interesting to you. Today, you will log in and take the baseline test. I recommend you try your best or the program will not benefit you.

8 Reading Plus: We are going to look through the worksheet about Reading Plus. Please make sure to keep this paper! You will refer to it when we use Reading Plus

12 SSR Wednesday: Today we will be going to the library.
Ms. Miskell will give a brief overview of the library procedures. Please check out a book quickly and quietly. Ms. Miskell and myself can check out your books. Then, find a place to read. Make sure you bring your Reading Log! DO NOT WASTE TIME and do not waste the opportunity to read. You abuse it, I will revoke it.

Read the passage At some point today or tomorrow you will need to read the passage to me. Sign up on the board. While you wait: Answer the comprehension questions on the right side. Try to figure out the definition of the bolded word. Answer the two in-depth questions at the bottom and create at least two of your own. In depth questions are open ended and higher level thinking. Refer to your Bloom’s taxonomy questions that I give you. The higher the level the better the question! Finish work on Reading Plus Work on Membean: Prepare for quiz tomorrow.

Read the passage If you did not read to me yesterday, you will need to read the passage to me today. Sign up on board. While you wait: TAKE QUIZ ON MEMBEAN You can retake as many times in the 20 minutes provided, but the last grade is final. Make sure the following are completed for the discussion: Answer the comprehension questions on the right side. Try to figure out the definition of the bolded word. Answer the two in-depth questions at the bottom and create at least two of your own. In depth questions are open ended and higher level thinking. 20 Read around: The point of a read around is for you and your peers to communicate and discuss the passage you read. I will begin the discussion, but will not speak afterwards except to refocus if needed. To keep the discussion moving, ask your questions. Keep the round table open. Do not be hateful or disrespectful. Only positive comments! Do not interrupt each other and take turns. Everyone should get a chance to speak Keep the round table going for as long as possible.
