2 Class Dojo Please check your child’s report every night to go over any lost points. Students should be earning at least 15 amount of points everyday.

4 Dojo Consequences -1 point: Warning
-2 points: Consequence- Silent Lunch, shortened recess time, write off, etc. -3 points: Parent Contact -4 points: Office Referral

5 Mclass Middle and End of Year Test
Mclass is a test that your child takes 3 times each year. Students are tested on their ability to read nonsense words, reading fluency (how quickly and accurately they read a story), and reading comprehension.

6 Nonsense Words Example of nonsense words
Nonsense words are make-believe words that students have to read in 1 minute. Goals for the middle of the year- 43 sounds and 8 whole words read Goals for the end of the year- 58 sounds and 13 whole words read

7 Activity Now it’s your turn: Try to read as many nonsense words in 1 minute as you can…

8 Fluency Example of story
Students have 1 minute to read as many words in a story as possible. They only receive points for the words that are read correctly. Middle of year goal- 23 words read with 78% accuracy and students do not have to retell End of year goal- 47 words with 90% accuracy and students are able to retell 15 things

9 Reading Comprehension
Examples of questions students may have to read and answer Students are given books to read. They may take as long as they would like. Next, a teacher will ask questions about the story orally and then the child will have to read and answer questions with paper and pencil. The teacher WILL NOT be able to read or help the child with the questions. Goal for the middle of year is a G. Goal for the end of year is a J.

11 Your turn…. UNRAAVEL Marsha had 10 flowers in a vase. 2 are red and some are blue. How many are blue? Write your answer using pictures, numbers, or words. Or Jake has 5 apples. Jerry has 2 apples. How many more apples does Jake have than Jerry? Write your answer using pictures, numbers, or words.

12 Volunteer If you would like to become a volunteer to work in a classroom or to be able to chaperone a field trip, you will have to fill out a volunteer form on the Nash Rocky Mount website. We can help you do that tonight!!
