- Example: Everyman Consisted of a spiritual trial of the average man.

5 What created Medieval theatre?
Church was conducted in Latin and therefore was above most of the congregation. The church decided to show stories so that everyone would be able to understand.

6 The mystery plays were still long winded and dull so “interludes” were created to keep the attention of the audience. Interlude meaning between the games included slapstick. It derived from France and Italy, which originally came from the Roman comedy writers Plautus and Terrence.

11 Morality play The actors evolved from priests to guilds who participated in the “cycles”. These guilds performed on the pageant wagons. Even those these plays held a message from the Bible they still contained comedy. Example: The Newcastle cycle made Noah’s wife a vixen.
