1
Find Mean, Median, Mode, Range given a data set.
2
The mean is the sum (add) of the values in the set divided by the number of values in the set.
3
The median the middle value when the values are ordered from small to big.
*If there are 2 middle pieces add them together and divide by two. (Find the mean).
4
The mode is the value or values that occur most often.
*You could have one mode, many, or none.
5
The range of a set of data is the difference (subtract) between the biggest and smallest numbers in the set.
6
Example #1 2, 4, 10, 7, 5 5.6 Mean: Median: Mode: Range: 5 None 8
7
15.17 15.5 12 & 18 6 12, 18, 14, 17, 12, 18 Example #2 Mean: Median:
Mode: Range: 15.5 12 & 18 6
8
Example #3 161, 156, 150, 156, 150, 163 156 Mean: Median: Mode: Range: 156 150 & 156 13
9
A value that is very different from other values in the set is called an outlier.

45 Rico scored 74, 73, 80, 45, 67, and 75 on six history tests.
Example #4 Rico scored 74, 73, 80, 45, 67, and 75 on six history tests. Which of these scores is an outlier? 45
