Informational Meeting

2. Purpose
It shall be the purpose of the Mill Creek Middle School Poms Squad to promote and uphold team spirit for those we encounter, to develop good sportsmanship by example, to support good relations in the community and between teams and squads during events. The organizational goal is to work in harmony with the Team management and administration, other athletic teams and sporting organizations.

4. Eligibility A dancer provide appropriate forms to Mrs. Williams
A dancer may be male or female.
A dancer must have at least 2.0 GPA.
It a team member’s grade drops below that average they will be promptly removed from the team.
A dancer who receives disciplinary action from the school will be dealt with according to CCPS regulations.

5. Attendance Requirements
All dance team members will attend all practices and competitions or events.
Missing 3 or more practice = suspension & or removal from the dance team.
You may only attend practice or a performance if you were present at school.
Late pick-up 2x will result in removal from the dance team.
If other activities are chosen by the coach, the coach shall decide if the event is mandatory or optional.
Reasonable notice of all such activities/opportunities will be given for mandatory events, and as early as possible.

6. Tryouts
Tryouts will consist two parts: the 1st part -basic poms skills, and the 2nd part - dance ability and ability to learn dance routine
Skills: right & left leg kicks, 3 point kick, 5 point kick, split
Dance/ Routine: Technique, Synchronization, Choreography, Difficulty, Showmanship, & Overall Impression
Tryouts will normally be held each year prior to the start of dance team training.
The format of the Tryouts will be decided by the coaches, and will be held in a fair and open manner conducive to allowing each dancer to show his/her best abilities and potential.

7. Practice Schedule
Practice will vary from week to week 3:20 pm to 4:45 pm.
This schedule may increase for special performances.  
All dancers are required to attend all practice sessions unless valid reasons are notified to the coach.

9. Uniform and Practice Wear
Poms are expected to wear uniform the day of a performance.
Poms are to wear appropriate practice clothing such: sweat pants, shorts, tee shirt, sweat shirt, or gym uniform.
No short shorts or jeans will be permitted at practice.
Rubber soled athletic shoe are requires.
Dances’ that are not dressed in the correct attire will not be permitted to practice that day and will have to sit out and watch.
NO FOOD or DRINKS IN PRACTICE! WATER ONLY!
