WARM-UP On notebook paper, answer the following questions:
Where are you from (originally – like, your ancestors)? What do you know about the place you come from? What do you consider to be your culture? What are some of your cultural traditions?

Georgia Health Survey This survey is MANDATORY.
You will be issued a laptop. Please log on and then find a logo on the desktop that is white with the blue “e.” That is a shortcut to the survey. Take the survey. When finished, LOG OFF the laptop, but do NOT shut down. Do not just close it without logging off. Bring your laptop to ME. It has to go in a particular place, not just in any slot. I will ask you to sign off that you completed the survey.

CULTURE: the beliefs, customs, arts, etc., of a particular society, group, place, or time AND/OR a particular society that has its own beliefs, ways of life, art, etc. RITUAL: a religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order. CUSTOM: a traditional and widely accepted way of behaving or doing something that is specific to a particular society, place, or time TRADITION: a way of thinking, behaving, or doing something that has been used by the people in a particular group, family, society, etc., for a long time

Today we’re reading an informational text about a culture called the “Nacirema.” Follow the directions on your handout for annotation and answering the questions. If at ANY TIME you figure out who the Nacirema are, DO NOT BLURT IT OUT!!!!
