Gandhi used transformational leadership because he starved himself to show he would not tolerate any violence to achieve India’s independence. Also, Gandhi went to jail several times in order to get his point across that he would not back down from the British even without violence. Also, he lead his Indian people to act as a whole and no one is better then each other. In addition, Gandhi led many protest and marches to stand up. Finally, Gandhi had many speeches to rally the Indian people to strive for excellence and finally become independent country.

Enable Others to Act: Gandhi enabled other to act by marching to the sea and using non violence to get back at the British for the salt tax. Model the Way: Gandhi modeled the way for the Indian people by setting up the march to the sea and make salt. Intellectual stimulation: A leader that helps their followers gain strength and helps them become smarter as they follow them. Example: Gandhi used Intellectual stimulation in many ways. For example, Gandhi used speeches and rally's to educate his Indian followers that they have the same rights as the British citizens in India and South Africa. Individualized Consideration: A leader that knows his own strength's and weakness’s and isn’t afraid to ask others for help and acknowledges each of his followers, also he doesn’t consider himself as a leader, but as a whole group. Example: Gandhi used individualized consideration in many ways. For example, Gandhi never took credit for his action, but he did take credit as a group. However, Gandhi would take responsibility/credit if his group ever did something wrong and face jail time for it.

Challenge the Process: Gandhi got independence for India. However, Jinnah proposed a deal so India would be to separate countries, but Gandhi didn’t want and wanted the violence to stop between the two groups. Inspire a Shared Vision: Gandhi inspired a shared vision by communicating to the people that he wanted the two groups to be at peace and wanted India to be one whole country and work together. Enable Others to Act: Gandhi enables other to act by talking to a Hindu who killed a Muslim child because his child was killed by an other Muslim individual. Then Gandhi told him to find a Muslim boy who has no one and take him and raise him as his own child.
