Organization that strives to engage middle school students of all ability and interest levels in fun, challenging math programs, in order to expand their academic and professional opportunities All children are capable of seeing the beauty and joy of math, whether they come to us already passionate about math, or intimidated by it. Mathcounts brings together students from all 50 states in a series of in-person contests - the only competition program of its kind. What is mathcounts?

MATHCOUNTS has been recognized in White House ceremonies by President Barack Obama, as well as former Presidents George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Ronald W. Reagan. The MATHCOUNTS Foundation has received two White House citations as an outstanding private sector initiative. MATHCOUNTS was founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and CNA Foundation. What is Mathcounts?

When is the competition?
4 levels of competition: School Competition in January Local Chapter Competition will take place in February It will be a Saturday and will last about 4 hours! State competitions will take place in March National Competition will take place in May When is the competition?

What is the competition?
10 students will make up the team for the Local Chapter Competition MATHCOUNTS competition consists of 4 parts: Sprint Round: 30 questions, and students have 40 minutes to complete them Target Round: 8 questions, which are distributed to the students a pair at a time. Students have 6 minutes to complete each pair of problems Team Round: 10 problems for the team to work on together for 20 minutes The top 25% of individuals, up to a maximum of 10, proceed to the Countdown Round Countdown Round: an oral round in which students compete head-to- head What is the competition?
