4. We have 3 kindergarten classes at Jefferson.
All classes are extended day.
Mrs. Peterson teaches Transitional kindergarten and is our lead teacher.
Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Kratlian and I teach traditional kindergarten.

Math: My Math, CGI strategies

6. Homework will go home every Monday.
Homework is due on Friday.
Please return homework in folder.
And PLEASE read the weekly newsletter that is attached to homework.

7. CUSD kindergarten has 3 trimesters, not quarters like the rest of the grade levels.
1st trimester: October 28th (parent teacher conference week)
2nd trimester: February 27th
3rd trimester: June 10th

8. We are all about positive reinforcement
Encourage kids to always do their best.
If we have concerns, we will let you know the day of. We will speak to you right after school.
We do not tolerate hitting, pushing, or any other physical behavior.
Safety is always first.

9. School starts at 8:15. I will open our door a few minutes early everyday, unless I am in meetings.
8:15- 8:30 Morning jobs
8:30-8:45 Carpet/ “Focus Wall
8:45-9:00 Writers Workshop
9:00- 9:20 Morning/snack recess
9:25-10:45 Literacy stations
11:00- 11:55 Lunch and recess
11:55- 12:10 “Counting Collections”
12:10-1:15 Math Workshop
1:15 packing up
1:30 School ends (I will release students to their parents, please be patient the first few weeks for school).

11. We will have 2 field trips
October 19th: Hillcrest Pumpkin Patch
May: Farm
If a parent would like to chaperone, they must be cleared by the office.
Limited availability, usually around 5-7 chaperones per class.

12. We love volunteers!
Parents must be cleared.
We will not have any volunteers for the first few weeks of school.
Safety is #1, therefore we must wait to get the list of approved parents.
Once parents are cleared, I will send home a volunteer form .
