2 The Beginning Priam & Hecuba, the king & queen of Troy have a baby – they name him Paris. (He is the 50th son and there are 12 daughters!) Cassandra & the Phrophesy The kind shepherd from Mt. Ida

3 16 years later . . . . . . Peleus & Thesus are married on Mt. Olympus.
Eris (discord) is angered. THE GOLDEN APPLE – “for the fairest” The cat fight - Hera, Aphrodite, & Athena

4 Chaos ensues . . . . . Zeus’s Decree The Judgement of Paris
The Bribes

5 A few months later in Troy
Paris’ shocking discovery. Hector & Paris voyage to Sparta to visit King Menelaus. The Queen of Sparta!!! Menalaus leaves for a business trip – Paris sails for Troy – fast. The Stolen Goods.

6 The scorned husband . . Menelaus goes to Agamemnon, his brother & the King of Greek Kings, for help. The Sacrifice The Greek army sets sail for Troy to reclaim Helen – “the face that launched a thousand ships”.

7 The Trojan War Begins . . The Greeks outnumbered the Trojans, but couldn’t defeat them because of the high walls that surrounded the city. The war went on for 10 years – the Greeks and the Trojans lost many warriors including the most heroic, Hector and Achilles. Hector of Troy Achilles of Greece

8 After 10 years of fighting -
Odysseus, the most ingenious of the Greek soldiers, came up with a plan. THE TROJAN HORSE So, who won the war? T H E G R E E K S ! ! !

9 After the defeat Troy is destroyed. All the men are killed and the women and children are taken as slaves. Helen goes back to Sparta with Menelaus and resumes her wifely duties. Agamemnon returns home only to be murdered by his wife for sacrificing their child.

10 One more must voyage home . .
This brings us to the “Odyssey” It is the story of Odysseus’ journey home to Ithaca. Penelope & Telemachus Odysseus the braggart has a conflict with Poseidon.

11 His journey home - Should have taken him about 3 weeks and it should have looked a little like this

12 HOWEVER The journey took almost 20 years – and looked more like this ……………..
