2. Noun A noun is a person, place, thing, or idea.
There are two basic types of nouns:
Proper
Common

Capitalized
Name specific people, places, or ideas

4. Common Noun Not capitalized Names general items or names
Unless they begin a sentence or appear in titles
Names general items or names

7. Entry Task
Circle the common nouns and underline the proper nouns in the sentence.
I won free tickets to go see Jason Aldean at the Spokane Arena last September.
Last year I traveled to Seaside, Oregon with a friend. Our favorite part was swimming at the beach.

8. Adjective Describes a noun or pronoun Answers 1 of the 3 questions:
What kind is it?
How many are there?
Which one is it?

Dan decided that the fuzzy green bread would made an unappetizing sandwich.

12. Coordinating Adjective
Appear in a list and modify (describe) the same noun or pronoun
They are separated with commas or the word “and”. “And” always comes before the final adjective listed.

13. Separated by a Comma
Forecasters warned of another day of hot, windy conditions across Southern California.

14. Separated by the Word “And”
The pear was juicy and delicious.

15. Comparative and Superlative Adjectives
Comparative= comparing 2 people, places, things.
Superlative= discussing/comparing 3+ people, places, or things.
All adjectives modify nouns!
