1 Acid Rain From A Health Scientists’ Point of View

2 ACID RAIN Definition of
Acid Rain Is well… Acid in rain, snow, fog, dew, or dry particles. The more accurate term is "acid precipitation.” The Extra Acid in the rain comes from Pollutants, Like vehicles, industrial & power-generating plants. 3 What is ACID RAIN When coal and oil are burnt, acid rain is formed. Most acids are blown into the sky causing Rain etc to become more acidic. Acid gases are produced when fossil fuels like coal and oil are burned in power stations, factories and in our own homes. Most of these acid gases are blown into the sky, and when they mix with the clouds it can cause rain - or snow, sleet, fog, mist or hail - to become more acidic.

4 Direct Effect On Humans
The main problems acid rain has on humans is respiratory problems (breathing) and throat irritations. A major problem that acid rain can cause in a human being is respiratory problems. Many can find it difficult to breathe, especially people who have asthma. And throat irritations can be caused by the sulfur dioxides and nitrogen oxides from acid rain. Acid rain can be absorbed by both plants & animals. When humans eat these plants or animals, the toxins inside of their meals can affect them with serious disabilities such as brain damage, kidney problems, and Alzheimer's disease. In North America year 1982, on average sulfur pollution kills 51,000 per year, and about 200,000 ill as a result of pollution.

5 Direct Effect On Humans
Acid Rain effects plants and animals too, if we eat these it can end up in serious injury like kidney problems, brain damage and Alzheimer's disease. 6 Our Solution Make an alkali gas to neutralise the acidity of the polluted gas. Use Less Fossil Fuels & Electricity. Cars that let off less pollution.
